Description
Umrah is a deeply spiritual journey undertaken by Muslims to the holy city of Makkah in Saudi Arabia. Unlike Hajj, which is performed during specific days of the Islamic calendar, Umrah can be performed at any time of the year, making it more accessible for believers seeking closeness to Allah.
The rituals of Umrah begin with entering into the state of Ihram, a sacred form of purity and intention. Pilgrims then perform Tawaf, which is the act of circling the Kaaba seven times in devotion and prayer. Afterward, Sa’i is carried out by walking between the hills of Safa and Marwah, honoring the struggle of Hajar, the wife of Prophet Ibrahim, who searched tirelessly for water for her son. The final step is the symbolic act of trimming or shaving the hair, which signifies humility, renewal, and submission to the will of Allah.
Though shorter than Hajj, Umrah carries immense spiritual significance. It cleanses the heart, strengthens faith, and brings tranquility to the soul. Many Muslims consider it an opportunity to repent, seek forgiveness, and start anew with greater devotion. Umrah is not only a journey of the body but also a journey of the heart, filled with peace, reflection, and deep connection with the Creator.
